Sam Adams Presentation

November was an exciting month for the MoD team. We presented our vision to mayor-elect Sam Adams and got great feedback. Inspired and energized we are moving forward.

In the past week the membership of our Facebook group grew from 350 to over 600. This was only possible with the support of all our friends. Thank you.

Last, but not least: we are looking for ideas to fine-tune our name: we want to better represent Portland's strong brand value in our name. Currently we are using MoD Portland = Museum of Design Portland. Maybe PoMoD? Please submit your thoughts to dieter@museumofdesignpdx.com.

We took our first official step, and presented the concept for the museum to one of the premier developers in Portland and the South Waterfront.

The meeting resulted with a supportive thumbs up for the concept and viability of this project, and an offer to help facilitate the connection with more potential partners. Moving forward we will have a series of presentations with these potential stakeholders and investors to continue to explore how we bring this to life, and how soon!

Thanks to all members for helping grow the membership of the Facebook site, for sharing great ideas on exhibits, offering ersonal expertise, and most of all willingness to be involved in this exciting grassroots effort.

The Idea

Museum of Design in Portland, Oregon - a destination where people find enjoyment, inspiration, and meaning in exploring authentic objects of design.

The idea for a design museum in the South Waterfront district was born in late 2006 out of the vision for the district's community:

"We are an inclusive, progressive community on the river sustaining an atmosphere of vibrant possibility".

Portland is ranked among the 10 most creative cities in the USA and is the prime location for a design museum on the West Coast.
